BISHOPS RELEASED
GERMAN PROTESTANTS’ WELCOME. CHEERING CROWDS IN STREETS. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Nuremberg, Nov. 4. In defiance of the prohibition of Herr Streicher, head of the police, tens of thousands of Protestants from all parts of Bavaria welcomed Bishop Meiser, the opposition Lutheran, who has been released from custody. Bishop Meiser spoke in St. Lawrence’s Church, followed by Pastor Jacoby, head of the Emergency League. Afterwards a crowd swept through the police and surrounded Bishop Meiser’s car, cheering him to the echo. At Stuttgart 4000 crowded the principal church to hear Bishop Wurm for the first time since his release. The service was relayed to an enthusiastic overflow meeting.
