DTERMINED TO PLAY
KIRKWOOD’S EXHIBITION GOLF DISPUTE DEVELOPS SARAZEN HAS NO OPTION ASSOCIATION BAN HOLDS By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 11 p.m. ' Melbourne, Nov. 2. Prospects of an international golf disagreement were strengthened to-day when Joe Kirkwood affirmed the determination that he and Sarazen would play an exhibition match to-morrow. “Sure, I’m in a ‘tough spot,’” said Gene Sarazen, on his arrival to-day. He explained that he was under contract to Kirkwood, who was guaranteeing the tour. Sarazen said he could not afford to lose the guarantee. However, he came to play golf, and not to fight. It is understood that Sarazen is keen to play in the centenary championship. Kirkwood claims he engaged Sarazen for a world tour, and not to como specially for the championship. The Victorian Golf Association maintains that Kirkwood and Sarazen will not be allowed to play in the championship if the exhibition is played.
