DEATH OF MR. W. CUTFIELD. FAMILIAR NAME IN PROVNCE. The death of Mr. William Cutfield, an old- Taranaki settler, occurred on Thursday at his home in Victoria Avenue, Remuera, Auckland. Mr. Cutfield was born in England in IB6o' and came to New Zealand in 1875, immediately coming to Taranaki, in the early history of which province his uncles, Captain King, R.N., and Mr. George Cutfield, were prominently identified. The latter was superintendent of Taranaki from February, 1857, to July, 1861. Mr. Cutfield started farming, and in 1880 took up a property at Tataramaika, remaining there until he retired to livfe at New Plymouth in 1900. He moved to Auckland in 1920. Mrs. Cutfield survives him, and there are three sons, Mr. H. L. Cutfield, luglewood, Mr. Ernest Cutfleld, Tututawa, and Mr. G. Eric Cutfield, Wanganui, and three daughters, Mrs. H. W. Saxton, Melbourne, and Misses H. and L. Cutfield, Auckland.
