UNSETTLED WEATHER

DEPRESSION CROSSING DOMINION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather is expected to improve gradually on the west coast of the South Island, but elsewhere it will be unsettled, with further rain, some snow on the ranges and hail in places, states the 4 p.m. forecast. Conditions are becoming cold and some frosts inland in the south are likely. The depression responsible for the present unsettled weather is now crossing the Dominion and an anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Strong northerly winds are probable at first over the southern and eastern parts of the North Island, but otherwise moderate to strong southerlies will prevail. Seas will be rather rough to rough.
