SHIPPING DOUBLED
CONSTRUCTION IN BRITAIN. OTHER COUNTRIES ALSO ACTIVE. By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright London, Oct. 16. The tonnage of shipping under construction in Great Britain and Ireland on September 30, 604,296 tons, was nearly double the amount on September 30, 1933. An upward tendency was also maintain-’ ed abroad with 707,031 tons, according to Lloyd’s register, including Japan-149,-750 tons, France 120,868, Germany 120,816, Denmark 74,938, Holland 70,735, Italy 37,970, Sweden 64,565, United States 22,225. The world tonnage for motor-ships is 764,909, and oil tankers 324,712.
