NEW PLYMOUTH COURT SITTING.

REMAND ON A THEFT CHARGE. The greater part of yesterday’s sitting of the court at New Plymouth was devoted to the continued hearing of an application for an affiliation order, Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., deciding against counsel for defendant, who submitted the application should be dismissed for want of corroboration of the complainant’s story. Judgment was reserved. Charged with breaking and entering the dwelling of Mrs. Ethel Mary Shotter, Puniho, on August 15, and stealing one pair of white blankets, Harry Brunsden was further remanded until October 19. Bail was renewed in Brunsden’s own recognisance of £lO. Detective Meiklejohn made the application on behalf of Mr. St. L. Reeves, who was in Wellington on business.
