MOUNTAIN ROAD RACE
HANDICAPS FOR SATURDAY. SEVEN ON SCRATCH MARK. Handicaps have been declared by Mr. L. E. Smith for the annual round-the-mountain road cycle race of 120 miles to be held on Saturday. The first riders will be despatched from Queen Street, New Plymouth, at 9 a.m. The course will be via Opunake, Kaponga, Manaia, Hawera, Eltham, Stratford and Inglewood, and the first riders are expected to reach the New Plymouth racecourse at about' 3 p.m. The handicaps are as follow:—
Scratch: W. J. Lamberton (Christchurch), R. Weir (Christchurch), H. Snowden (New Plymouth), A. Ellis (New Plymouth), C. Burke (New Plymouth), L. Stevens (New Plymouth), W. Pratney (Auckland). Ten minutes: M. Jones (Christchurch), H. Eva (New Plymouth), D. Miller (Gisborne), G. Tuffery (New Plymouth), W. Ashman (New Plymouth), A. Mackie (Christchurch).
Fifteen minutes: F. I. Belk (Midhirst), F. Jennings (Petone), F. Fussell (Inglewood), L. Wood (New Plymouth), G. Stevens (New Plymouth), L. Pittams (Midhirst), J. A. Foote (New Plymouth). Eighteen minutes: D. Newall (Christchurch), R. Sutherland (Christchurch), E. Jeffs (Gisborne),' J. R. Armstrong (Christchurch), W. Nelson (Takapau), W. J. Seelan (Christchurch), W. G. Hunter (Hastings), C. Johnston (Auckland). Twenty-one minutes: A. S. Church (Gisborne), P. Bicknell (Auckland), F. E. Lowdnes (Auckland), E. Standing (Inglewood), E. Oliver (Lepperton), A.
