PLAY-WRITING EVENT
BRITISH DRAMA LEAGUE PLAYS. RESULTS OF THE EVENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Oct. 6. The following results of the play writing competitions conducted by the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League were announced at last evening’s final festival:— Radio record competition: “The Ayes Have It,” H. C. Somerville (Oxford), 1; “School for Cynics,” G. H. Whitehead (Wellington), 2 “Father Against Son,” James Wilson (Timaru), 3; “The Substitute,” L. A. Charles (Ashburton), and “Just a Little Bit of Life,” Gwynne Peacock (Auckland), equal, 4. Tui’s annual competition: “Mopsie,” Mrs. C. Targuse (Timaru), 1; “Men for Pieces," Mrs. Targuse, 2; “Potatoes,” Mrs. Latter (Auckland), 3; “Agnes in “Autumn,” Mrs. G. Webster (Timaru), 4; “Black Sheep,” H. C.. Somerset (Oxford), 5; “The Reckoning,” B. R. O’Brien (Wellington), 6. Three-act plays competition: “Rose Lane,” B. Berry (Christchurch), 1; “Pedro the Magnificent,” L. A. Charles (Ashburton), 2; “Carita,” L. Lovatt (Hamilton), 3; “Ready for Occupation,” Miss I. M. Levy (Wellington), 4.
