Davidson moved a motion urging national lotteries, which was passed enthusiastically, .. ; He emphasised that ordinary citizens resented attempts to prevent a “flutter,’ - and pointed out that the French lotteries recently contributed £13,000,000 to the Treasury. He suggested 10s tickets, 5s to be devoted to prizes and the remainder to finance work of national importance in-' stead of allowing £50,000,000 to go to sweepstakes abroad. s
