PREPARATIONS FOR SATURDAY. MITCHELSON CUP CANDIDATES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 6. Perfect weather prevailed for training at Ellerslie this morning. The course proper was open 50 feet out from the rails and the going was holding. Lord Vai, Wee Pat and Thespis were associated over a round in 2m. 14 4-55., the last six furlongs in lm. 25 l-ss. Lord Vai finished two lengths in front of Wee Pat, with Thespis about a length away. Grand Sport ran half a mile comfortably in 56 l-ss. Kelly, On Parade and Killadar were in that order at the end of six furlongs in lm. 245. AU worked well. Karangapai covered the last six furlongs of his work in lm. 23 2-55,, hitting out well at the finish. Trevace wept very freely while covering half a mile in 54 l-ss. Sporting Blood did a similar task in 58 2-ss. He went well. Gold Pocket and Sporting Song finished in front of Sir Vai at the end of six furlongs in lm. 28 4-ss. They were under restraint at the finish. Psychologist ran five furlongs well in lm. 8 4-ss. The best six furlongs of the morning Was credited to King Musk, Versant and Gay Marigold who, after running three furlongs in 39 3-55., covered the distance in lm. 225. They finished in the order mentioned. Ruling King and Chief Emerald covered half a mile in 55 4-55., being about on terms at the finish. Gainsfid and Royal Lineage both worked well, covering the last seven furlongs in lm. 38 3-ss. After breakfast Kiltowyn ran six furlongs well in lm. 225. ( Chief Cook and Jalldy Kara ran six furlongs in lm. 23 4-55., finishing together. Baroscope and Lady Diana ran five furtongs in lm. Bs., hitting out well. Chromadyne (Fergus), Ardmanning (Baker) and Absent (Sharkey) were sent a round of the steeplechase country. All jumped well and were practically together at the finish. W. Rayner arrived from Wanganui this morning with Spiral, Burnish, Pomp and Canopy. H. Rama has returned with Horowhenua and Free Air.
