Homer was a visitor to Patea for a few days during the week. Mrs. M. J. Armstrong spent a few days at Wanganui this week. Mrs. R..C. Hughes is spending a holiday at Wanganui. Mrs. A. S. Clark entertained several friends at a bridge .tea on Tuesday afternoon.
Miss Nancy Morrison, Masterton, has arrived on a visit to Mrs. B. Blundell, Tataraimaka. Mrs."A. J. Papps was hostess at a bridge and mah-jongg party on Wednesday night
Miss-Joan Sutton, New Plymouth, has been spending the past week with friends at Hawera.
Mrs. H. Waring Saxton left on Thursday on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. H. E. Bloxham, Featherston. 1
Miss Bull and Miss L. Bull, Napier, who have been visiting New Plymouth, left on Thursday for Wellington.
Mrs. Walter Samson, Wellington, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. W. D. Graham. Miss B. Humphries, Lower Hutt, is expected to arrive to-day on a visit to Miss K. Humphries.
Mrs. Andersen Tyrer, London, is visiting New Plymouth and is staying at the White Hart Hotel.
Miss J. Bayly, Wellington, is visiting New Plymouth and is the guest of Mrs. Norman Little.
Miss D. James returned yesterday to Hanmer Springs after spending a holiday at New Plymouth. Miss M. Burke, who has been the guest of her aunt, Mrs. P. A. Bulmer, leaves on Friday for her home at Thames. Miss Marion Hamerton will arrive from Patea to-day to spend a short holiday as the guest of Miss A. Homer. Miss Amy Gentles left by car yesterday for Dannevirke to spend a holiday as the guest of Mrs. C. E. Dinniss. Word has been received that Mrs. J. H. P. Strang, who has been on an extended visit to England, left during the week on her return to New Zealand. Mrs. H. E. Fookes and Mrs. D. Nisbet Smith were visitors to Wanganui during the week to see the Empire Art Loan Exhibition.
Mrs. W. H. Moyes entertained at a bridge party yesterday afternoon in honour of her guest, Mrs. Bothamley, Wellington. . '
Mrs. G. Grover was hostess at a large and successful bridge party in aid of the New Plymouth Croquet Club on Tuesday evening. The rooms had been prettily decorated with cherry blossom and, Iceland poppies. Forty players were present and the prizes were won by Mrs. WylUe and Mrs. H. Cowling. Visitors staying at the Criterion Hotel during the week have included; Misses W. Bams Graham and E. Hegarty (Gisborne), Miss H. Bell (Havelock North), Mrs. J. Edwards and Misses Edwards and Bagnall (Auckland), Miss M. Owen (Auckland), Mrs. L. McCartney (Auckland), Miss D. Corset (Brisbane), Miss A< M. Roberts (Los Angeles). Mesdames J. Houston, W. F. Burst (Hawera), T. N. Watt, C. Marcroft (Opunake), Nicholls (Otakeho), T. Prescott (Patea), Instone (Manaia), H. Vaughan, R. St George, R. Barclay (Waitara), J. Hessell, Christie (Kaponga), and Miss MacClure (Ohura) were visitors to New Plymouth yesterday attending a girl guide meeting. Members of the North Taranaki branch of Marsden Old Girls’ Association were hostesses at a jolly dance in the bungalow at Kawaroa Park on Wednesday night. The school colours, blue and green, predominated in the scheme of floraL decorations, while Chinese lanterns gave an added touch of colour to the scene. ,About 100 dancers were present and they spent a very enjoyable evening dancing to the gay music of Vinsen’s. orchestra. Mesdames Rutherford and Whitcombe will be hostesses at the New Plymouth » Victoria League’s floral tea next week.
