PUNGAREHU HALL DANCE

WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS. The Pungafehu hall on. Friday evening was crowded for the Catholic dance and euchre party. Vinsen’s Ambassadors provided the music, extras being played by Miss M. Sole. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss B. Lawn and Mr. J. Jones. Half a dozen cups and saucers were won by Mrs. S. McFaull and a box of chocolates by Master K. Brophy. Twenty tables at euchre were supervised by Messrs. T. Gilhooly and B. Brophy. The winners were: Miss M. Gilhooly 1, Mesdames F. Deacon and McCarty 2; Mr. S. Jones 1, Mr. E. Smith 2. The master of ceremonies was Mr. L. Beardmore. School Euchre Party and Dance. An evening which will long be remembered by the Pungarehu school children was held in the Pungarehu hall on Tuesday evening, in the form of a dance and euchre party in aid of school funds. The children under the supervision of their teachers, Mr. A. Roots, Miss K. Shaw and Miss P. Cooper, occupied the floor in dancing from 6 o’clock till 10. A more joyous band of children it would have been hard to find. Misses K. and N. Goodin, Okato, supplied the music. Euchre occupied a large number of tables in the supper room. The winners were Miss Ngaia 1, Mrs. Taplin 2; Mr. G. Harvey 1, Mr. Young 2. Tennis Club Meeting. The annual meeting of the Pungarehu Tennis Club was held recently. Mr. A. Roots presided over an attendance, of 14. The following officers were appointed: Presiednt, Mr. L. Beardmore; honorary secretary, Mr. B. Brophy; club captain, Miss M. Brophy; auditor, Mr. A. Roots; selectors, Misses I. Gray and C. Brophy (ladies) and Messrs. J. Priest and G. Pukehika.

Mr .T. Ryan, Walton, Waikato, has recently been visiting relatives on Bayly Road.
