WAREA DOMAIN BOARD

METHODIST CHURCH AFTERNOON.

BOWLING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING,

The Warea Domain Board met, last week, Mr. P. Brophy presiding in the absence of the chairman, Mr. T. Julian. It was decided to call for tenders for leasing the domain on the expiry of the present lease, and to protect the young trees on the south boundary by further fencing.

Mrs. T. Putt, Warea Road, held an afternoon on Wednesday to raise funds for the Methodist church. There were about 30 present, amongst ’ them being visitors from Pungarehu and Rahotu. Musical items were given by Mrs. Murray. Miss W. Murray and Miss E. Hughson, and Mr. E. Davis. A competition was won by Mrs. Andrews.

As the last series of euchre parties was so successful, the new hall committee decided to hold a further series the first euchre party of which was held on Saturday. The winners were Mrs. D. Betteridge and Mr. R. Julian. The Warea bowlers held their annual meeting in the bowling pavilion on Saturday night. Officers elected were: President, Mr. F. Sole; vice-president, Mr. C. Muir; secretary, Mr. J. Goodin; committee, Messrs. T. Bredin, G. Lewis, E. Gray and W. Lawn; green-warden, Mr. G. Lewis; assistant green warden, Mr. R. Julian; delegate, Mr. C. Muir. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring secretary, Mr. E. Gray. Miss Oldfield, Okaiawa is visiting her sister, Mrs. E. Chapman. Miss Fleming is relieving at the Warea school.
