TOTALS FOR NEW ZEALAND. 116,000 PRIVATE CARS. According to figures supplied by the Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr. G. McNamata) the number of motor-vehicle licenses issued up to July 31 of this year totalled 164,534. These figures, it should be mentioned, are those up to the end of June plus the registration plates issued in July, which may not be all new registrations; still, the figures are a fairly accurate record of the total number o registrations for the whole of the Dominion. .
