Mrs. R. Gilmore has returned from a holiday at Auckland. , Miss J. Turner, of the staff of the Auckland Hospital, is spending her leave with her mother, Mrs. W. Turner. Mrs. M. Carrick entertained at an enjoyable evening on Monday.

Mrs. H. I. Chittenden was a bridge hostess on Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Barnitt entertained several friends on Monday afternoon. Miss Edson, Hawera, spent a few days at Waitara this week as the guest of Mrs. M. Carrick.

On Wednesday afternoon a garden party in aid of the Presbyterian Church funds was held at the residence of Mrs. Hopson, Brixton. Golf croquet was played during the afternoon, the winners being Mrs. West and Mrs. Ashwin.
