Miss Audrey Nolan left yesterday on a holiday visit to Cambridge. Mrs. Bunbrey and Miss A. Bunbrey have left on a visit to Okato. Miss E. M. Townsend left 'yesterday to spend a holiday at Wellington. Miss J. Home has left on a week-end visit to Wanganui. Miss Bessie Bayly left during the week on a holiday visit to Helensville. Mrs. L. R. Curtis left by the express last night to spend a holiday at Auckland. Mrs. Trevor B. Herdson returns tor'ght after six weeks’ holiday spent in Wellington, Christchurch and Timaru. Miss W. A. Valentine has arrived from Wellington on a visit to Mrs. J. A. Valentine. Miss Dorothy Lewer left on Wednesday to commence her training at the Gisborne hospital. Mrs. J. M. Hine has arrived from Te Kuiti to spend a holiday as the guest of Mrs. E. Hine. Miss E. Mantey, New Plymouth, is spending a few days with Mrs. H. J. Mantey. Mrs. A. E. Manning, who has been, spending a short holiday at New Plymouth, will return to Hamilton to-day. Mrs. H. W. Lattey, who Jias been visiting her mother, Mrs. R. Day, left on Wednesday on her return to Wellington. Mrs. J. F. S. Russell, Wellington, and Mrs. V. Illingworth, Wanganui, are among the guests at the Hotel Imperial. Mrs. R. Turton, who was the guest of Mrs. W. J. Reid, has returned to Greytown, where she will in future reside. Miss E. Andrews visited Opunake on Monday and gave a lecture on the PanPacific conference, under the auspices of the Women’s Division. Miss C. Leatham will leave to-day to spend a holiday at Auckland as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Trevor Simpson. Visitors staying at the Criterion Hotel include Mesdames Ivan Davidson, Wanganui, J. Hutchinson, Christchurch, and S. Forsyth, Auckland. Mrs. G. H. Edwards, Christchurch, returned yesterday accompanied by her mother, Mrs.’ J. Storrie Leitch, who is leaving on an extended holiday. Mrs. H. H. Godby, and Misses E. Macfarlane and E. M. B. Nutt, Christchurch, were visitors at the Criterion Hotel during the week. They left yesterday. Mrs. F. J. Shearer, who has been spending several months at New Plymouth, left yesterday on her return to Invercargill. Mrs. D. K. Morrison, Mrs. A. E. Wiggins, Miss E. J. Harris and Miss M. Berridge motored to Hawera yesterday to attend a Girl Guide gathering. Mrs. Maxwell Hyslop, England, has been spending a few days at New Plymouth this week, staying at the Criterion Hotel. Mrs. J. Wood, Mrs. G. Mottram and Miss Mottram, Opotiki, who have been the guests of Mrs. G. Grover, left on Wednesday on a visit to Mrs. P. Hoby, Tptaraimaka. Mrs. H. Stocker entertained at a small bridge party on Thursday afternoon as a farewell to Miss Alison Greig, who will leave to-day to spend several months at Auckland. Mrs. M. H. Godby, Misses V. Fleming, M. Nott and MacFarlane, Christchurch, spent Thursday at New Plymouth on their way to Auckland for the New Zealand women’s golf championships at Titirangi next week. New Zealanders in Sydney were entertained last week by members of the New Zealand Women’s Association, when Dr. James Gibb, Dunedin, and Mrs. Pulleine Spencer were the guests of honour. Amongst those present were Mesdames A. W. Joll, A. Copeland, G. T. Batley, E. Davies, and Misses M. and T. Davies and M. Miller (Christchurch). Mr. and Mrs. T. Sunderland entertained at a dinner party on Thursday night in honour of the coming of age of their daughter, Marcia. At a small function afterwards the health of Miss Sunderland was proposed by Mr. J. A. Pankhurst and replied to by her father. Among the guests were Mrs. A. G. Knucky (Hawera) Misses Marion Thomson (Hawera) Lois Bennett, G. Stafford, M. Sunderland and J. Grice. Death of Mrs. Samuel Hill. Mrs. Samuel Hill died recently at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. W. A. Boucher, Orakei Road, Remuera, Auckland. Mrs. Hill had been in indifferent health for’ some time. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Sandford, Hamilton, and Mrs. Boucher, Auckland, and one son, Mr. Leslie Hill, secretary of the Dunedin Jockey Club. The eldest son, Willie, lost his life in the Great War. The youngest, Allan, died in the Waverley district. Mrs. Hill was known for her bright and happy disposition by many in Taranaki. ENGAGEMENT. Olive Imelda, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Q. McMahon, Waihi Road, Hawera, to William Henry, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Carter, High Street, Hawera.
