LORD BLEDISLOE VISITS CAMP. PLANTING OF SAND DUNES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Sept. 11. Lord Bledisloe visited the youths’ afforestation damp at . Kaitoke this morning and was welcomed by a large gathering of country people and representatives of the Wanganui District Development League and representatives of local bodies. The weather was not favourable, but His Excellency had an opportunity of inspecting the nursery, where 46,000 trees were planted by the boys in the camp, the seed being collected when the camp commenced operations last year and germinated in a city nursery. These trees will be planted out next year on waste and sand areas which have already been planted in marram grass. Lord Bledisloe expressed hearty appreciation at the work and referred to the benefit which would accrue from the afforestation scheme.
