WAITARA FLOWER SHOW

PRESENTATION OE* TROPHIES. The thirteenth annual flower show, held by the Waitara Methodist Church concluded on Saturday night. The attendance was large and good business was done at the stalls. The gross takings for the t\Vo days were between £9O and £lOO, which is considered most satisfactory. " „ The Rev. W. B. Cuming, before presenting the trophies to the winners, thanked all who had helped.. Special thanks were due to the members of the ladies’ guild. It was gratifying that the judges considered the exhibits of a high standard that would compare favourably with the exhibits anywhere in the Do- . , minion. The presentation of trophies was then made as follows: — .... . . Daffodil section: Champion bloom (committee’s trophy), Mrs. B. Antunovic; points prize (Benefield and Sons’ trophy), Mrs.' E. S.. Allen; special prize (P. J. Allen Challenge Shield), Mr. F.'R. Pepperill; Avery Shield, Miss J. Paulger; amateur cup (with miniature), Mr. R. Lewis. Decorative: Points prize (crystal bowl), Miss M. Allen; 'ur.ior (Mrs. Beaven’s trophy), Miss Jean Wilson; Miss ; Major’s trophy, Miss Lucy Johnston; boys' (Miss Major’s trophy), lan Tate. . Fancy work: Challenge Cup, Miss O. Dring (won outright); special prize, Miss Dring; runner-up, Mrs. McCutchen. Home industries: Pojnts prize, Mrs. V. Wells; special for sponges, Mrs. C. Matthews and R. F. Muschamp equal.
