THE QUIETEST ON RECORB

ELECTION CAMPAIGNING NO DISORDER IN AUSTRALIA CONFIDENCE OF MR. LYONS HIS TOUR OF FOUR STATES By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.5 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 7. Although the Commonwealth elections are only a week off the campaign so far has been the quietest on record, which in a large measure is attributed to the high prestige of the Lyons Government. There has been none of the disorder and recrimination of the last election, and far less propaganda. A considerable amount of campaigning has been carried on by means of broadcasting, which owing to the protracted spell of extremely inclement weather has enabled electors to stay at home and hear the addresses in comfort. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. S. Lyons, arrived at Sydney to-day after a tour of Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. “There can be no doubt of the result on September 15,” he said. “Our workers in every State are full of enthusiasm, and I am sure they are justified in expecting an overwhelming victory. My reception in all the States I have visited has been most cordial. Seats we lost at the last election in Queensland we expect to regain. The only State where there may be some change is in New South Wales, which will be due to a minor distribution of boundaries in some electorates.”
