PLACING MEN ON INIATIVE
RELIEF POLICY REVIEW NEEDED. WORK SAID TO BE AVAILABLE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. The Ashburton County Council has resolved that the time is ripe for a review of the whole unemployment relief policy with a view to placing men on their initiative to seek employment, of which much is available for suitable men on farms. The council has decided to refer matters to the Canterbury Progress League with a recommendation that it take the matter in hand as far as Canterbury is concerned.
