BRIXTON CRICKET CLUB

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Brixton Cricket Club was held on Monday evening'in the factory office, • Mr. E. Andrews presiding over an attendance of 18. The balance-sheet showed that £9 9s was carried forward from the previous season, and that expenses had been heavy owing to gear having had to be obtained for an extra' team. The playing season had ended with a balance of £2 10s Id. During the winter social gatherings resulted in a profit of £l2 18s 2d, bringing the credit balance to £l5 8s 3d. Assets totalled £55 15s 9d and liabilities nil.. There were 17 senior members, 10 junior, two life members and three schoolboys honorary members. , , , The following officials were elected:— Chairman, Mr. E. Andrews; secretary, and treasurer, Mr. K. Macßae; committee, Messrs. D. Fulton, W. McCaul, A. Giddy, A. Sutton, E. Andrews, H. Furze and J. Sampson; selectors, Messrs. A. Giddy, D. Fulton and A. Sutton; official scorer, Mr. D. Fulton; club captain, Mr. W. McCaul; delegates, Messrs. E. Andrews, K. MacRae L. Jury, W. McCaul; gear committee/Messrs. E. Andrews and K. Macßae. Messrs. G. Johns and E. Hopson were elected members. The subscription was fixed at 10s for senior members and 5s for juniors. It was decided to enter two teams in

the competitions again this year. It was suggested that if enough players were available a junior competition would be in the interests of country cricket. It was pointed out that at present a. y leaving school had to start his cncke against senior players; a junior • competition, in adition to the present one, would help to bridge the gap and act as a feeder for the senior teams. It was decided to hold a working-bee during the week-end. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr. n. Ptirdie for the use of the ground, to the women’s committee for assisting at the dances, to Mr. L. Longstaff for his services as master of ceremonies, to those who gave prizes, to Mr. Limmer for•arranging the room for meetings, and to *he Press 1 N. Denton and J. Galyer were congratulated on being selected for the A representatives, and J. Sampson an . Longstaff on their selection for the B representatives. m It was reported that in the A team T. Longstaff had headed the batting averages with 10.2 runs, and A. Giddy the bowling average with 29 wickete a of 7.07 runs apiece. In the B team K. Macßae headed the batting list with an average of 20 runs, and A. Ho P s °n the bowling with seven wickets, for 5.4 run. apiece. J. Galyer took 38 wickets for 5.7 rU A S 'vote of sympathy was passed with the Sutton family in its bereavement.
