BULL’S ATTACK ON CYCLIST
Hundreds Scatter In Terror Before Wild Onrush POLICE SHOOT ENRAGED BEAST IN LONDON STREET AN ENRAGED bull which was being driven to slaughter-houses at Abbey Wood, London, broke away from a herd and after a mad career through Woolwich and Plum-
stead Streets knocked a pedal-cyc-list through a hotel window before it was lassoed by the police and shot. By a coincidence, the name of the hotel into which the cyclist was thrown was The Bull, in Eton Road, Plumstead. The cyclist was Alfred Eldridge, aged 28, of Elcho Street, Battersea, S.W. He was taken to hospital but was not detained. The bull careered for more than two miles through the streets, scattering hundreds of people, and colliding with a motor-lorry. It was cornered in Taylor Street by police, and was shot near Woolwich Arsenal Station. Twenty police were drafted from local stations to chase the bull, which i was at liberty for nearly three hours. Women screamed and children fled in terror from the infuriated animal.
