Hyde Park advices state that President Roosevelt announced he had accepted the resignation of Mr. Lewis Douglas as Director of the Budget and had appointed Mr. Daniel Bell, a veteran Treasury employee, as acting-director. It is learned that for months Mr. Douglas has been dissatisfied with the vast expenditure under the new deal and believed that balancing the Budget would be a better aid to a return to prosperity.
