FIVE PILOTS WITHDRAW

PILOTS AND MACHINES London, August 31. A. Guiet (France), W. Courtenay (Britain), C. C. Goertz (Portugal), A. S. Butler (Britain) and Weddell Williams (United States) have withdrawn from the centenary air race. Underwriters announce that premiums on air race risks will be:—Death, 8 per cent.; death or disability, 10 per cent.; aircraft to the value of £lOOO, 20 per cent.; to £lO,OOO, 15 per cent.; over £lO,OOO, 10 per cent. One-third of the premium paid will be returned to each competitor if no claims are made.
