TREND OF INDUSTRIAL WAR
IMPORTANT DECISION MADE WORKERS’ RIGHTS DEFINED COLLECTIVE BARGAINING By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 6.35 p.m. New York, Sept. 1. Coincidental with the textile strike the National Labour Relations Board of the National Recovery Administration issued an important decision that is likely to have a profound effect on the ( trend of United States industrial warfare. It is the official interpretation of the so-called Act, defining the rights of workers to collective bargaining. In a test case the board declared that the wish of the majority of workers in any industry regarding who will represent them will be binding on all workers. In effect this means that where independent American Federation of Labour units gain a majority vote the company unions created by the employers become illegal. Large industrialists immediately announced that they would fight the decision through the courts.
