WEATHER MAINLY FAIR

TEMPERATURE FALL LIKELY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather is expected to be mainly fair and cold in western districts from Taranaki southwards, but elsewhere changeable, with rain in the far north and scattered showers in eastern districts, states the forecast issued at 4 p.m. An intense anti-cyclone centres over Tasmania and extends across the Tasman on to New Zealand, while a depression is located on the north of the Tasman. Southerly to south-easterly winds should prevail, later veering to easterly in the far north and moderate but increasing generally in force. Seas may be rough north of East Cape and about Foveaux Strait, with a considerable southerly swell south of East Cape, but elsewhere moderate.
