CREWS REFUSE TO SAIL
VESSELS DELAYED AT AUCKLAND. POOLTA AND THE PORT WAIKATO. ■ K By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Union Company’s steamer Poolta and the motor-vessel Port Waikato did not sail for southern ports to-night as was intended, owing to the crew of each vessel being required to attend a meeting of'the Seamen’s Union to-morrow morning. The Poolta was to have sailed at six o’clock and the Port Waikato four hours later, Wellington being the first port of call for both vessels. Shortly before the sailing time the master of the Poolta was informed that the men would not take the vessel to sea because of the meeting to-morrow, and the master of the Port V r aikato was advised similarly.
The delay to the vessels is not due to any dispute with the shipowners. It is understood the meeting is of only a private nature concerning Seamen’s Union aftairs.
