YOUNG PEOPLE’S BALL
SECOND Y.M.-Y.W.C.A. DANCE. COMMUNITY HOUSE FESTIVITIES. A spirit of comradeship and festivity ruled last night over Community House, the newt home of the Y.M.-Y.W.C.A. at New Plymouth, when the second, ball Of the week for members and friends was held. . Willing helpers had, assisted in making the dance hall ahd supper room a gay and artistic setting for the guests. Red and blue, the colours of the. men’s and women’s clubs respectively, were the shades chosen for the gymnasium, where Martin's Orchestra played the music for the dancers and Mr. J. H. Ledgerwood was master of ceremonies. Coming upstairs to supper, which included hot savouries, the young people found the old hall, now named Alexander Hall, in honour of Mrs. A. Alexander, transformed by drapings of pale green and yellow, Baskets, o' hanging fern, lent by Mr. V. C. Davies, gave a suggestion of spring to the decorations. The guests of honour were Mrs.. A. Alexander and Mrs. Pickering, Hastings. The committee which had arranged the dance comprised Mrs. F. Trueman, Misses M. East, B. McDonald, A. Parfitt, F. Dew, N. Beadle and Messrs A. E. Foster, E. Neilson, R. Rundle, D. Patton and A. Crombie.
