Second round: Baroness Levi of Minden (Nevada) defeated Miss Betty Nuthall, 6—4, 6—4; Miss Helen Jacobs (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Jane Sharp (Pasadena, California), 6—4, 6—l; Miss Stammers defeated Mrs. Marjorie Painter (Dedham, Massachusetts), I—6, 6—4, 11—9; Miss Ryan defeated Miss Norma Taubele (New York), 6—4, 6—B, 6—l; Miss James (U.S.A.) defeated Mrs. John Van Ryn (U.S.A.), 6—2, 6-8, 6-1.
