ORANGE SHIPMENT ARRIVES
NOT ENOUGH FOR INVERCARGILL. RESULTS OF SALE AT AUCTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The first shipment of Berrie oranges and South Australian mandarins under the arrangement recently made between the New Zealand and Australian Governments reached Invercargill last night, and the supply, which consisted of 650 cases, was sold in the auction rooms to-day. The fruit arrived in excellent condition and attracted extremely keen competition from retailers. By the end of the morning there was not a case left in the auction rooms. Some shopkeepers were unable to obtain their requirements and the opinion w&s generally expressed that a supply of about 1000 cases would have been more in keeping with the needs of the Invercargill market. The prices realised, although not unduly high in the circumstances, were in keeping jvith the demand.
