WOOL IMPROVEMENT LEVY

OPPOSITION IN CANTERBURY “TOO MUCH TEXT BOOK ADVICE” By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. That there was a danger of the producers being given too much “armchair and text book” advice instead of direction from the text book of practical experience was the contention of Mr. E. Hay in his. presidential address to the Canterbury Sheepowners’ Union tonight, when referring to the scientific and Industrial Research Amendment Bill, providing for a levy of fourpence a bale on wool.

A resolution was carried opposing the levy and declaring that the improvement of wool should be left to the breeders, who were; it was stated, the only persons competent to effect an improvement.
