MANY OFFERS TO PERRY
ARRIVES TO DEFEND HIS TITLE. FILMS AND PROFESSIONALISM. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 5.5 p.m. New York, Aug. 14. F.' J. Perry arrived in the Majestic to defend the United States singles title and found himself in great demand. He has received an offer from W. T.‘ Tilden to turn professional, but says he is not interested. There is also an offer to make a motion picture at Hollywood. In that he was much interested, but in playing he seemed not interested at all. “I am too tired. Hang it,” he said. The trouble seems to be that in order to keep form he must play a good deal of tennis, but he becomes “fed up.” “I have to keep going,” he said. “I can’t lay off and keep in form. I tried resting once for six weeks and then went into a match and was as nervous as a cat. I couldn’t play at all.” «
