New Plymouth’s share of the "Change of Luck” art union, £B6, has been received by the Mayor (Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour). It will be used for the relief of distress. Essay prizes for school children of £1 10s for seniors and £1 in both intermediate and junior divisions are being offered this year by the Wellington Navy League, according to advice received at yesterday’s meeting of the Taranaki Education Board. In the senior division the subject is "The Honour of the British Nation,” in the intermediate "The Importance of Coal and Oil Fuel in respect to the British Navy,” and in the junior, “Lighthouses.” Essays are to be written at schools under the supervision of teachers.
