FIELD COMPETITIONS

JUDGING IN URENUI DISTRICT. The judging of the hay and ensilage classes in the field competitions in the Urenui district was completed on Wednesday by Mr. J. M. Smith, of the Department of Agriculture. As there were 41 competitors the judging was an arduous task, especially, as the points indicate, there was not a great deal of difference between the scoring values of the entries. Urenui, said Mr. Smith, was one-of the districts where the competitions had obviously had a very bene'ficial effect. Stacks that won during the first year or so would probably be at the bottom of the list to-day. Details of the judging are:— Stack Ensilage (Grass).
