BILL DESIGNED TO CLOSE COURTS.

NOTICE GIVEN BY MRS. McCOMBS.

(By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night.

Notice of her intention to introduce a Destitute Persons Amendment Bill designed to close the courts during the hearing of domestic cases was given in the House of Representatives this afternoon by Mrs. E. R. McCombs (Lab., Lyttelton) .

The measure seeks to allow only the parties concerned, police officers and such other persons as the magistrate might permit to be present during the hearing of domestic cases, and to prohibit publication of reports of these cases unless specially permitted by the magistrate. It is proposed that the penalty for a breach of these provisions be £lOO, an offence being declare! to be contempt of court.
