BAD STATE OF ROAD

NAPIER TO TAIHAPE. J WARNING TO MOTORIST'S. The condition of the road running over the high mountainous area between Napier and Taihape, via Kiripapanga, is in an extremely bad condition, according to reports received by. the Automobile Association. Several motorists lately have, expert ' enced severe difficulty even when their cars have been equipped with tyre chains. Local residents have been called upon to supply horses, tackle, men and labour <to extricate cars from their trouble, and in several cases they have been expected to house and feed the passengers until such time as the weather clears sufficiently for the car to be moved on. Back-country residents as a rule are only too -willing to extend assistance of this sort, but apparently the frequency with which they have been put to trouble rec mtly has led them to ask the automobile associations definitely to recommend traffic not to attempt the route for at least the next two or three months.
