FRANKLEY ROAD NOTES

GENERAL ITEMS. The fourth of the series of dances held in the Frankley school gymnasium organised by members of the Frankley Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday. There was quite a big number present. The hall was gaily decorated by Mesdames Brooke, Taylor, Smith and Miss G. Kenny. Music for the dancing was provided by Mr. Laurie Smith’s Versatile Orchestra with extras by Mrs. Lander and Mr. W. Sadler (accordepn). Mr. J. Kenny was master of ceremonies. Mrs. J. Kingston won the pair of silk stockings in a guessing competition. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss T. Goodacre and Mr. L. Hardgraves. The lucky number chain waltz was won by Miss F. Allen and Mr. Johnston. The pupils of the Upper Mangorei school visited the pupils of the Frankley school on Thursday afternoon to play the girls at basketball and the boys at football. The children were conveyed to Frankley by Mr. Busing, Mr. Pierce and Mr. Johnston. The score at basketball was Frankley 12, Upper Mangorei 8 and at football Upper Mangorei 15 and Frankley 9. Afternoon tea was served in the hall by the ladies.
