MISSIONARIES BELEAGUERED.

Dispatches reaching the British Legation report that a Communist bandit force surrounded Funing, north-west of Fukien, where a number of British missionaries are stationed. Those inside the beleaguered city are believed to include Dr. E. G. Fiske, the Rev. W. Conlin, belonging to the Church Missionary Society, and their wives, also several Roman Catholic priests and nuns.

The provincial, authorities are taking military action against the Reds.
