APPRENTICESHIP CONTROL
AMENDING ACT NOT EXPECTED.
UNANIMITY NOT REACHED.
(By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.)
Wellington, Last Night.
The difficulties which have cropped up in recent years in the working of the Apprenticeship Act have caused a great deal of comment among employers and trades unions, but as no progress has been made in the efforts to get representatives of these sections to agree to amendments it is unlikely that the Act will be amended this session.
Complete revision of the existing legislation, with amen ,ents to meet the situation, was undertaken two years ago, and a Bill was framed and introduced into the House. It was not proceeded with, however, and last session another Bill was prepared embodying the suggestions which had been made to meet the objections in the original proposals. As with the others, unanimity could not be obtained on these, and the Bill was not proceeded with.
