Mrs, E. L. Humphries entertained at bridge on Thursday afternoon. Miss E. Stanton has returned from a short visit to Taumarunui. Miss Grace Avery is spending a short holiday at Matapu. Miss N. Griffiths will leave to-day to spend the week-end at Patea. Miss Esther Robb, who has completed her training at the Cook Hospital, Gisborne, has returned to New Plymouth. She was accompanied by Nurse A. Rewharewha, from the same institution. Miss Rose Duff, Hawera, is visiting New Plymouth for the week-end. Mrs. 0. E. Flyger was hostess at a bridge party on Tuesday night. Miss June Speight, Auckland, has arrived on a visit to Mrs. J. Power. Mrs. E. J. M. Ferguson entertained on Tuesday night in honour of Mrs. S. Paton, Auckland. Miss Euphemia Maxwell, Rahotu, is the guest of - Trs. H. D. Maxwell. Mrs. J. Power returned on Thursday from a short holiday at Auckland. Mrs. L. M. Stephenson, Opunake, is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. F. Carthew. Mrs. G. B. Wilson returned to Wellington yesterday after a visit to her mother, Mrs. W. J. Ewart., Miss Gwen Fumell, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. Wells, returned to her home at Auckland on Thursday. Mrs. Cyril Hart, formerly of Stratford, has taken up her residence at New Plymouth. Mrs. W. J. Ewart was hostess at an afternoon tea on Wednesday in honour of her daughter, Mrs. G. B. Wilson, Wellington. Mrs. H. G. Skeet, Wanganui, and Mrs. S. G. Davidson, Patea, are the guests of ' Mrs. H. Cowling for a few days. Miss N. Kelly, Patea, who has been the guest of Miss Hamann, left yesterday for Hawera on her return to Patea Miss N. Thorpe returned to Stratford during the week after being the guest of Mrs. F. G. Phillpotts for several days. Mrs. E. Daniel, who has been,the guest of Mrs. F. E. Wilson, left on Thursday on her return to Hawkes Bay. Mrs. T. Welsh, Wanganui Mrs. G. R. Hogan, Auckland, and Miss H. Thomas, Auckland, were recent visitors to the Hotel Imperial. Mrs. S. Paton, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. lan Roy, returned to Auckland last night. i’ Miss, M. Hamer ton and Miss A. Marshall left yesterday to spend a few days with Mrs. Harper Lepper, Lepperton. ■ . Mrs. I. Mathew, Christhurch, who has been the guest of Mrs. F. S. Johns, returned south on Friday. Miss Mildred Griffin, Eltham, is spending the week-end with her parents. Mrs.' J. B. Sattler, accompanied by her daughter has returned to New Plymouth- after a short holiday with her mother, Mrs..W. A. Wiggins, Stratford. Mrs. Bishop Martin has returned from a visit to her mother, Mrs. Minchin, Inglewood. Mrs. Minchin, Mrs. Allington and the Misses Allington are touring the Auckland province. They expect to be back at Inglewood early next week. Mrs. V. Kirkby arrived from Te Kuiti on Monday to stay with her mother, Mrs. E. C. Nuttall. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Kathleen Nuttall, who had been her guest for several months. Miss Viva Whitcombe, who has been spending several weeks in Hawkes Bay, returned home during the \ week accompanied by Miss Renee Clarke, Otane, who is at present her guest. Staying at the Criterion Hotel are Miss R. W. Ashurst, Auckland, Miss G. S. Williams, Auckland, Mrs. A. K. Voyce, Auckland, Miss N. Scott, Bulls, Miss M. Amon, Bulls, Miss R. McKelvie, Carnarvon, Miss M. Smith, Wellington, Mrs. Darman, Wellington, Mrs. F. E. Bolt, Lower Hutt, Mrs. J. C. Barclay, Okaiawa, Mrs. J. F. McKessick, Hastings. Nearly 30 members of the New Plymouth Croquet Club and their friends gathered at the residence of Mrs. King, Devon Street East, and enjoyed games of bridge and five hundred. Mesdames King and Crawford were the hostesses, and the prize-winners were Mesdames Sutton, Bellringer and Barnham.
