June 18. On, the Stock Exchange it has become ■ almost a habit recently to devote the

day to gold shares. Morning and afternoon calls were unduly prolonged by this class of business. A feature to-day was the setback of Tullamore gold shares regarding which there was considerable activity. These shares a month ago were quoted at 33s 6d. To-day after opening at 14s 6d they slumped to 12s as a result of a heavy bear raid, but solid West Australian ventures maintain a strong front. The investment .market was irregular. The picture theatre group weakened owing to the publication on Saturday of a Royal Commission’s report against the restriction of further cinema licenses for additional theatres. Sales were: Bank of New South Wales, £3O 10s; National Bank (£5 paid), £6 ss; Colonial Sugar, £66 19s; Associated News (pref.), 23s 3d; Burns Philp, 535; Australian Gas A, £7 17s; Tooth’s, 42s 9d; Newcastle Gas C, 13s; Australian Glass, 50s; Dunlop Perdriau, 18s; Wilcox Mofflin, 12s 2d; David Jones, 38s; Anthony Hordern, 14s 2d; General Industries, 12s 3d; John McGrath, 29s 3d; Mt.
