CYCLIST FINED AT HAWERA
SPEEDING AT INTERSECTIONS. PROSECUTIONS BY THE POLICE. “Speeding over intersectiohs is dangerous,” said Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Hawera Court yesterday, when fining G. Kemp £4 and costs for .riding a motor-cycle in Glover Road in a manner that might have been dangerous to the public. Inspector L. Hunt estimated Kemp’s speed over the Argyle, and Victoria' Streets intersections at 45 miles an hour. Kemp had been warned before, he said. Kemp said his speed was under 40 miles an hour. It was a noisy cycle, he added. Laurie Pitts for being on licensed premises after hours at Hawera was fined £2.
Charles Simons was fined £3 for offences arising out of a visit to the Commercial Hotel, Manaia, after hours. He gave a false name but later under questioning by the police admitted his real name.
John Bishop was fined 10s and costs 10s foi’ riding a bicycle without a light. E. J. Foster for failing to keep to the left of a traffic dome at Hawera was fined £l, with costs 10s.
