GREATEST INVESTMENT
THE LIVES OF MEN. - “But of- all the investments in the world, is not the lives o’ men the safest ? It is a gilt-edged security,” said Sir Ernest W. Morris, in a speech reported in the Glasgow Herald. “The time is so critical. Every laboratory worker knows that we are on the verge of the greatest of all conquests. One hospital is co-operating with another. One finds just that missing piece of the jigsaw that the other "wants. “Cancer still stands uncoriquered, but this cowardly monster that attacks old folk and little children has seen with dread certain striplings down at the brook, and one of them may be a David. This of all times is not the time to discourage and dishearten the man behind the gun.” [Earlier in his speech Sir Ernest described the doctors and nurses as those who stood “behind the guns in a fighting hospital.”] “He is ready to sacrifice his life, and has done so. We must all be ready to sacrifice.. In no other way can Heaven on Earth be won.” .
