BY-ELECTION AT MERTHYR HELD. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. London, June 6. Tire Merthyr by-election owing to Mr. R. C. Wallhead's death resulted:— S. C. Davis (Labour) 18,645 J. V. Evans (Liberal) 10,376 Campbell Stephen (Ind. Labour) 3,508 W. Hannington (Communist) .... 3,409 Messrs. Stephen and Hannington forfeit their deposits. The result at the general election was: R. C. Wallhead (Labour) 24,623; S. Davies (New Party) 10,834.
