Alterations in the third placings in the second division of the Jervois Handicap run on Saturday and the uarbine Plate run on Monday were announced to-day by the Auckland Racing Committee. The amended results are that in the Jervois Handicap Versant is third and not Hunting Jay and in the Carbine Plate Allegretto is first instead of Hunting Jay, Alpinus second and First Lap third.

The alterations were made owing to a report to the committee by Mr. C. Hart, owner of Hunting Jay, that owing to a misunderstanding he had entered the horse in the races concerned when it was not eligible. Mr. Hart said he thought the entries were restricted to horses which had not won more than £5OO, but discovered later that the maximum was £4OO, which disqualified Hunting Jay. The explanation was accepted by the committee. EIGHT-STONE MINIMUM WEIGHT. CANTERBURY J.C. MEETING. Christchurch, June 6. The committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club at a meeting yesterday decided to adopt the Bst. minimum for all handicap fiat races at the Grand National nv eting. This is done to meet the wishes of trainers and jockeys. It had been represented to the club that it was difficult to obtain riders at the Ist. minimum in winter.
