DEVON STREET COLLISION

OMATA FARMER CHARGED. CASES IN POLICE COURT. Subsequent to a collision in Devon Street on May 12 in which a woman was injured and taken to hospital, Thomas William James, aged 50, farmer, Omata, appeared on remand at the Magistrate's Court at New Plymouth yesterday charged with being found in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor vehicle. Represented by Mr. W. Middleton, James was again remanded on £5O bail until July 4. Patrick James Burke, aged 38, was remanded until June 13 when charged with breaking and entering by night between May 27 and 29, 1933, the New Plymouth High Schools' Board office and stealing £l4 Is Id and a key valued at 2s 6d. „ Edwin Charles Ellison, Dannevirke, who had driven a car without a driving license for a year, was fined £1 and costs. ~ , George Priest, a 16-year-old boy, was admonished and ordered to pay Costs 10s for cycling at night without a light. Inspector R. Day prosecuted. . For a similar offence Patrick Leo Donoghue and Bryan Mahar were each fined 5s and costs 10s. , Cycling on the footpath cost Max Morey a fine of 5s with 10s costs.
