CITY CENTENARY MEMORIAL
ADEQUATE AIRPORT AT AUCKLAND SUGGESTION BEING CONSIDERED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, June 1. Accompanying a suggestion that the establishment of an adequate airport for Auckland would be a very suitable memorial for the city’s centenary in 1940 submitted to the City Council by the Auckland branch of the Town Planning Institute of New Zealand was a proposal that the council should undertake an investigation of two sites which the institute thought worthy of consideration. It was urged that if the idea of an airport were to be adopted it was not too early to place the matter in train. The matter was referred to a committee.
