TO-DAY'S RUGBY FOOTBALL
SOME IMPORTANT MATCHES. The sixth series of senior Rugby competition matches which are set down for decision to-day is fraught with great interest, the majority having a bearing on the struggle for championship- honours, which is growing more complex each Saturday. Several of the teams will be fighting to retain that position at the head of the ladder, whilst others will be fully extended in order to prevent elimination from any prospect of attaining the premiership. So even are most of the teams that not one has gone through without a defeat, and probably 11 of the 15 teams are still in the running. • The matches are:— Tukapa v. Old Boys, at Pukekura Park. Star v. Patea, at Pukekura Park. Empire Old Boys v. Clifton, at Waitara, Kaponga v. Stratford, at Stratford. Inglewood v. Waimate, at Manaia. Hawera v. Eltham, at Hawera. United Old Boys v. Opunake, at Opunake.
