EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. The' first of a series of euchre parties conducted by the Midhirst Tennis Club was held on Wednesday night and was well attended. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Schumacher 1, Miss C. Copeland 2; men, Mr.' F. Kovaleski 1, Mr. N. Copeland 2. After euchre the hall was cleared and dancing was enjoyed. The music was supplied by Mr. H. Humphries and. the master of ceremonies was Mr. E. Trass. Methodist Guild. The Methodist Ladies’ Guild met recently at Mrs. J. Hall’s -residence to make a presentation to Mrs. G. Smith, who has left the (district. . Basketball. The Midhirs't basketball team was again successful on Thursday, when it defeated Stratford High School girls by 11 goals to 9. The goal throwers were N. Anderson and I. Alexander. Personal. A pleasant afternoon was recently spent at Mrs. W. Anderson’s home, the guest of the' afternoon being' Mrs. G. Smith on the eve of her departure for New Plymouth. Those present were Mesdames P. Anderson,- L. Vickers, J. Vickers,. A. Guthrie, A. Guahan, G. Anderson, V. Carroll, C. Carroll, V. Sherson, W. Bunning, A. Hunter, W. Platt, G. Smith, Whittaker, L. Hall, F. Spencer, Misses Wardell, Toomes, Lawn. Miss B. Forbes, of Wharehuia, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. P. Harkness. Miss E- Mail, New Plymouth, is spending her school vacation with Mr. and Mrs. A. Guthrie. Mr. H. Tucker and Mrs. W. Pitcairn, North Auckland, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. Anderson. ■ _ Mr. and Mrs. J. Wildon a?e on a holiday at Auckland province. Mr. R. Meads, who has been on- annual leave, has resumed duties.
