THOUGHT TO BE TRAMWAY LINES FARMER INTOXICATED IN A CAR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch. Last Night. Tom Voice, a farmer aged 65, Templeton, was to-day fined £l5 for being intoxicated while in charge of a car. The police stated that Voice had run into a cattle stop at the Sockburn -railway crossing. He had fallen across the stop and called on bystanders to pick him up. A train which was due at the-.time had fortunately been stopped and the defendant was very lucky he was alive. For the defence it was stated the cause of the mishap was that Voice had mistaken the railway lines for tram lines and turned along them. The magistrate cancelled Voice s license and prohibited him from obtaining another till August 1.
